LUCKY DESIGNS - CALL FOR MUGSHOTS!
LUCKY DESIGNS - CALL FOR MUGSHOTS!
For reasons that should become apparent in very near future (i.e. a new Lucky Designs invention - yay!), I need to get my hands on a bunch of snapshots of people dressed in the style of a FORTUNE TELLER.
Now, obviously, I *could* riffle through my friends list, and beg all of my friends to put on strange and exotic outfits for me (no change there then!) … but I thought it might be more fun to set up some kind of mini-contest to get the required pics. After all, everybody likes an excuse to dress up, right?
OK, here’s what I need. The requirements are *very* specific, so please read carefully:
1. The obvious thing first: You need to look like a fortune-teller. Think along the lines of a traditional Swami look, or a Gypsy outfit …maybe something wizardy… or perhaps something creepy/gothic and Elvira-like; use your imagination! (The pics don’t have to be human, so - for example - suitably-attired Furry / Neko fortune-tellers would also be welcome!).
2. I need a very specific pose - namely, your hands should be reaching out in front of you, as if they’re hovering around a crystal ball. I’ve attached a pose to this notecard, which should put your arms where I need them. Note that you shouldn’t actually include a crystal ball in your picture; I’ll be adding that later!
3. The picture should be square, ideally 512×512, and *if* you include a fancy background, it should be an entirely self-contained, well-balanced backdrop that’s in keeping with the theme… See the reference picture below for an example. If in doubt, just use a plain background - plain wall … or black curtains … something simple like that.
4. I only want to see you from the waist up. Ideally, you should mimic the composition of this reference picture as closely as possible; try to FILL THE FRAME IN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY - same proportions, same cropping, same amount of body showing. Obviously, this is something I can fix in post-processing - but the closer you get to this in your original picture, the easier my life will be
5. Finally, don’t put any props between you and the camera. In the finished item there’ll be a fixed crystal ball and tabletop superimposed in front of you … I’ll be adding these; there’s no need for you to put them there yourself.
5a. Optional rule for the SL photography professionals: if you want to mess around with lighting effects, a slightly blue glow coming from below shot (where the crystal ball will sit in the final composition) will fit in _very_ nicely with the colour/lighting scheme I’m using on the finished device.
Don’t get too hung up on these instructions; if your picture is “almost” perfect, I’ll get in touch to arrange a re-shoot. Fundamentally, the right outfit and the right “look” trumps all the other requirements

Got all that? Great!
Prizes:
Best Pic: L$1500
Any runner-up pictures that I use: L$250
Additionally, all the prize-winning pictures will be used in a soon-to-be-released Lucky Designs product … Your face could turn up all over second life! (Fame! w00t!)
Model/Photographer credits will also be included in the documentation of the device. Our products tend to reach a *very* wide audience, so this would be a good reference if you’re building a portfolio
(Not to mention the fact that I could do with some skilled photographers in my address book for future world-domination schemes…)
